Heart reef

The Whitsundays is quite literally situated in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef.

Heart Reef is a beautiful composition of coral that has naturally formed into the shape of a heart, sitting in its own reef lagoon. Heart Reef is, of course, protected and sail boats are not able to pull up alongside it. Located within Hardy Reef, Heart Reef is best experienced from the air by helicopter or seaplane and seeing it is an experience you will never forget.

Local seaplane and helicopter companies can collect you from the Whitsunday Coast or your island resort to take you on a memorable flight over the 74 island wonders of the Whitsundays. Feel like a rockstar as your seaplane or helicopter whisks you over the blue of the seas, the green of the islands, the sparkling white of the beaches and the swirling blues and greens of the reef. Below you are the island beaches and brilliant blue waters of the Great Barrier Reef. It is from the sky that the untouched corners of the reef come into view, including Heart Reef.

In addition to Heart Reef, your companies can also combine this with a flight over the spectacular Whitehaven Beach, where the swirling sands of Hill Inlet will leave you speechless.
